ASTA Installation GuidePlease close Delphi and execute the ASTA installation program that you have downloaded from our web site. The filename should have the following form DXAstaXXEval.exe where X represents a version number. For instance, D5Asta20Eval.exe. The install program will update Delphi's library path and install ASTA's help files. To complete the installation, open delphi and add the ASTA package to Delphi. Using the Delphi menus: Component - Install Packages - click the Add button - and select the appropriate ASTA package as pictured below (DXAstaCS.bpl designates Delphi Client/Server and DXAstaPro.bpl designates Delphi Professional). Note: For Delphi 5, there is no longer a need for seperate installation for the different Delphi versions. Use D5Asta.bpl.
Follow through by clicking the "Open" and "OK" buttons. Now let's move ASTA next to your existing
Database components -- since this might be a new trick for many of you,
I will detail it carefully.
That's it. ASTA is now installed on your system and ready for you to use.
If you would like to use InfoPower with ASTA, remove the currently installed ASTA components: Using the Delphi menu, select Components - Install Packages - select the ASTA package and then click the Remove button. Now, continuing with the Delphi menu, select File - Open - and select an ASTA package from your ...\ASTA\Bin directory (DxAstaPro.dpk for Delphi Professional, DxAstaCS.dpk for Delphi Client/Server or Enterprise). Now click the Add button and add the AstaIPDataSet.pas and AstaIPClientDataSet.pas files from the ..\ASTA\Bin directories (your package should now resemble the one pictured below). Click the Install button and ASTA with InfoPower support will be added to your environment. When you wish to implement IP support, simply use the wwAstaClientDataSet and wwAstaDataSet components in place of the AstaClientDataSet and AstaDataSet components.
